[Store tour] Majid Al Futtaim ‘store of the future’, technology at the service of the customer experience

Majid Al Futtaim launched on January 24, 2022 its ‘store of the future’ at the Mall of the Emirates. THAT Concept Store (Majid Al Futtaim group) was the first lifestyle retailer taking over the space.

Entrance of the store

The ‘store of the future’ is a ‘phygital’ concept which combines both in-store experience and digital solutions: in partnership with the tech company Cisco, interactive mirrors, sensors, cameras, Virtual Reality (VR), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and big data analytics technology have been developed to create a unique customer experience, an intelligent store and a living space.

Unique customer experience

  • You can, for instance, scan an item with a mirror to get its information, available colors, sizes and matching products

  • Furthermore, the store is equipped with a beauty tablet to virtually try lipsticks

  • The items presentation is also enhanced thanks to the pick-up sensors which display related content on the screens

Intelligent store and living space

  • The store sensors and cameras have another function, which is to capture the environment data
  • From the data, anonymous analysis are generated: number of visitors, buying behaviours (heat maps, customers’ mood, age and gender), respect of the Covid-19 health instructions (mask wearing, physical distancing)
  • The store can also display adapted content according to the demographics information
  • A space has been created to live-stream and organize events

Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Managing Director of the UAE Shopping Malls at Majid Al Futtaim, announced that the store will be continuously reviewed and improved.
